Working together to end violence
You are not alone
The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre provides emotional support, information and advocacy to those who have been affected by sexual violence. The abuse may have happened recently or is historical. Our sexual assault centre offers a safe and non-threatening environment where you can talk freely and in confidence.

Who are we?
We offer support to those over the age of 16 who have experienced or are experiencing some form of sexual violence.
The Centre opened its doors in Renfrew County in 1993 to support sexually assaulted individuals by listening, sharing information and offering resources.
We are a non-profit organization funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and the generous support of people in Renfrew County.
Our mission is to support those who are experiencing or who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives.
We are committed to working towards ending the violence against and the oppression of the most marginalized community members. We offer support to those over the age of 16 who have experienced or are experiencing some form of sexual violence. We offer peer support to family members, partners and the community.
Acknowledgment of Support
We are grateful to the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) for their generous funding and ongoing support. Their contributions enable us to provide essential programs and services to our community, empowering survivors and promoting positive change.

Sexual violence is an expression of social inequality.
We believe that to end sexual violence, we must end all forms of oppression.
Sexual assault takes place within a social, political, cultural and economic context of historical disadvantage and oppression. We know that those from marginalized communities such as Indigenous people, people living with disabilities, people of colour, immigrant and refugees, LGBQT2S persons, and other marginalized groups are at an increased risk of experiencing sexual violence. Because of this, our services are accessible to everyone, especially the most marginalized.
We are committed to including all people in the work to end sexual violence.

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step.
